Deborah S. Tropp

Ms. Tropp received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1989, and received her Juris Doctor degree from McGeorge University School of Law in 1992. Ms. Tropp is admitted to all California courts and Federal courts within the State of California.

She has been primarily responsible for the development of the firm’s medical malpractice and managed care departments, as well as handling and trying cases involving personal injury, products liability, premises liability, catastrophic injuries, general liability and labor and employment issues.

Ms. Tropp has lectured to insurance companies, attorney groups, and healthcare providers on such topics as proper “charting”, MICRA, and managed care litigation in the medical malpractice arena. She also serves as a settlement hearing officer for the Los Angeles Superior Court.

She has tried cases in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties. She is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, Southern California Defense Counsel, the Orange County Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute and the Southern California Association for Health Care Risk Management. Upon graduation from law school she received the Order of the Barristers award for excellence in Trial Advocacy. Ms. Tropp is former member of the board of directors for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.

Ms. Tropp has represented CNA Insurance Companies, Markel American Insurance Companies, St. Paul Insurance Company, St. Joseph Health Systems, Thyssen Elevator, State Farm Insurance Company, Primecare Medical Group, Galway Insurance, Mariner Post Acute Nursing Homes, and many other national and privately owned companies. Ms. Tropp also has experience in representing nursing homes in administrative citation hearings before the Department of Health in both Los Angeles and Sacramento. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor at Western State University School of Law in Fullerton, California.

 

Jeff I. Braun

Mr. Braun received his B.A. degree in psychology from the University of California at Irvine in 1989. He graduated from McGeorge School of Law in 1992 and received the Order of the Barristers Award, along with being named the top oralist of the National Trial Advocacy Team. Mr. Braun is admitted to all State and Federal Courts in California and Nevada.

Mr. Braun was a partner with the Orange County office of Gilbert, Kelly, Crowley & Jennett prior to starting the firm of McNeil, Tropp, Braun & Kennedy. Mr. Braun represents numerous clients in the fields of general liability, products liability, governmental tort claims, business litigation and professional malpractice. He has particular expertise in the defense of catastrophic trucking accidents and premises liability.

In 2003 Mr. Braun was responsible for opening the firm’s office in Las Vegas, Nevada. While developing a successful book of business in Clark County he has also argued before the Nevada Supreme Court.

As an experienced trial attorney, Mr. Braun has successfully defended his clients in courtrooms throughout California and Nevada. His clients include Progressive Insurance, The Vons Companies, Inc., Republic Services, Inc., the Automobile Club of Southern California, and the Vector Control Joint Powers Agency. He is a respected lecturer who has spoken on licensing requirements of the medical profession and techniques to obtain effective statements under oath. He has lectured to claims handlers of several major insurance companies regarding the importance of taking effective statements prior to litigation. In April 2000 he educated members of the Northern California Fraud Investigators Association on the proper methods of handling suspect uninsured motorist claims.

Mr. Braun is a member of the State Bar of California (Litigation Section), Nevada State Bar, American Bar Association, Southern California Defense Counsel and the Orange County Bar Association.

 

Craig P. Kennedy

Craig P. Kennedy received his Juris Doctor degree in 1977, at Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California, and his Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology in 1974 from the University of Southern California. Mr. Kennedy is admitted in California and in the Southern, Central, and Eastern Federal District Courts in California.

For the last twenty-nine (29) years, Mr. Kennedy has had a general civil practice emphasizing the representation of entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized business owners in a wide array of legal services including business litigation, real estate litigation, commercial, business and real estate transactions, formation of commercial and non-profit entities, and estate planning.

Mr. Kennedy has had extensive business litigation trial experience in a wide range of personal, business, and commercial civil litigation, arbitration, and administrative matters including: business disputes, contested partnership and corporate dissolutions; commercial disputes involving issues of sales of goods, secured transactions, franchises; employee issues; and employee defalcation. His real property litigation experience includes matters involving commercial, industrial, and residential real property disputes; easement disputes; eminent domain cases; toxic waste; and, financing disputes.

In transactional matters, Mr. Kennedy has performed commercial and residential real estate transactions. In business transactions, he has represented acquirers and sellers in negotiated acquisitions, takeovers, joint ventures and asset purchases.

He has formed a wide range of entities including corporations (profit and not for profit), limited liability companies, limited partnerships, partnerships, and joint ventures.

In estate planning matters, Mr. Kennedy has represented clients in the preparation of inter vivos trusts, wills, durable powers of attorney, advance health care directives, irrevocable life insurance trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, family limited partnerships and limited liability companies, and gifting programs.

He has taught classes in business law and constitutional law to both undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Phoenix. Mr. Kennedy is also a regular speaker to local high schools on the practice of law.
